Research Lead, Teaching Assistant, NYU and Etihad Airways
Explored and developed high-tech solutions for Etihad Cargo and NYU. Solutions included mixed-reality for cargo packing, blockchain for shipping hazardous goods, and VR training simulation. Assisted NYU Abu Dhabi students as a teaching assistant.

Founder, Chief Technology Officer, Medivis, Inc.
I co-founded Medivis, which is dedicated to enabling surgeons and advancing surgical visualization using augmented reality and artificial intelligence. As CTO, I led technical hiring and built the core technologies of the Medivis SurgicalAR and AnatomyX products.
Sold and exited in 2017, though Medivis lives on as the industry-leading, FDA-approved, computer assisted surgical system, and is currently partnered with Verizon and Microsoft to improve patient outcomes across operating rooms in the US.

Researched, designed, and developed technologies for the latest XR, motion capture, and interaction hardware. Held development workshops and created learning materials for the ITP community for VR, AR, and MR development in addition to assisting with graduate course instruction.

Built early VR UX, interaction, and content prototypes for the HTC Vive.
Conducted user-testing on VR first-timers to gather qualitative data on local VR usage.

AR-ia: Volumetric Opera for Mobile Augmented Reality

Motivated by recent availability of augmented and virtual reality platforms, we tackle the challenging problem of immersive storytelling experiences on mobile devices. In particular, we show an end-to-end system to generate 3D assets that enable real-time rendering of an opera on high end mobile phones.

Awarded first place for prototype "Buddi" wearable device. Using GSM, GPS, and Arduino, Buddi empowers and protects people with dementia by allowing loved ones to respectfully keep track of their location and status.

Project Manager, Project Neuron with Shanghai Conservatory of Music 上海⾳乐学院
Project Neuron was an interactive live digital performance created in partnership with the Shanghai Conservatory of Music (上海⾳乐学院), The Shanghai Symphony Hall (上海交响乐团⾳乐厅), and the International Computer Music Conference. I designed the experience, fabricated wearables, and operated four OptiTrack connected dancers sending data into Unreal Engine for an immersive and reactive visual experience.

Featured Artist, “Art in Translation” Exhibition  
My painting “Earth Standard Time” was featured at an exhibition highlighting contemporary pieces blended with ancient Chinese mediums. Mediums included traditional Gongbi (⼯笔) painting and Xuan paper (宣纸).

Design Lead, SpaceX Hyperloop Pod Competition  
Finalist in SpaceX’s Hyperloop engineering challenge. Constructed CAD models, developed 3D prints for wind tunnel simulation, and oversaw computational fluid dynamics (CFD) testing. Later transitioned to global project manager role. Competed at both “Design Weekend” (semi-finals) in Texas, and “Competition Weekend” (finals) at SpaceX headquarters in Los Angeles.
